How to get to the Monk’s Cellar

By train (ca. 5 minutes + 5 minutes on foot):

  • Take the Metro from Islands Brygge Station to Nørreport Station.
  • Walk down Nørregade or Fiolstræde, ca. 5 minutes.
  • When you see the Cathedral (Frue Kirke) either on the left if you are on Nørregade or on your right if you came down Fiolstræde, turn onto the square. The main building of the University faces the side of the Cathedral.
  • The entrance to the Monk’s Cellar is on the left of the main entrance, when you are facing the main building.
  • Go through the gate.
  • The Cellar is on your left hand side when you go through the gate. The doors will open at 5.30 pm.
  • Buffet starts at 6.30 pm.

On foot (ca. 30 minutes):

  • Walk down Njalsgade (turning left when you leave the Amager campus).
  • Turn right at Torshavnsgade and walk to the end of the street.
  • Turn left onto Langebro (the bridge that takes you from Amager to the mainland).
  • Walk straight towards Rådhuspladsen (Town Hall Square).
  • Cross the square, turn left and walk up Vester Voldgade, turn right at Studiestræde.
  • When you reach the end of Studiestræde you are at Nørregade and you should see Copenhagen Cathedral (Vor Frue Kirke) on the other side of the street.
  • Cross Nørregade and turn left and you should be facing the main building of the University of Copenhagen.
  • The entrance to the Monk’s Cellar is on the left of the main entrance.
  • Go through the gate.The Cellar is on your left hand side when you go through the gate. The doors will open at 5.30 pm.
  • The buffet starts at 6.30 pm.
