The library

The library is a research library, which houses about 50.000 volumes.

To search the electronic catalogue use the REX-search box on the right or use the link here directly.

The collections are located in building 27, Njalsgade 136, in  KUA 1. Which is the last of the faculty buildings when approaching from the Metro station Islands Brygge.

Important information for visitors - Internet access

  • The University of Copenhagen no longer offers open internet access for visiting scholars. So make sure you have an EDUROAM-account from your home institution before you come to Copenhagen.

The library of the department houses a rich collection of books within the specialised fields of the three sections. The library is open to the public; the books are, however, not available for loan - only for use on the premises.

Each section of the Institute has it's own part of the library located within reach of the scholars and visitors of the individual section.

  • The  Arnamagnæan Institute on the 2nd floor.
  • Name Research on the 4th floor.
  • Dialectology on the 5th floor.

     Opening hours

The library is open on weekdays from 10 AM to 3 PM. It is closed on public holidays.

Researchers wishing to book a study place for an extended period of time please contact the librarian well in advance.
